Tiled roofs, we often replace and repoint mortar that is weather/ storm damaged.
This can be ridge tile mortar, valley mortar or verge mortar. Replace damaged or slipped roof tiles.
When the roof is giving a number of issues or leaks it is often more cost effective to either totally renew the roof tiles, battens, nails and under felt or partly replace the roof.
Depending on the age and condition of the roof tiles they can possibly be reused but the battens, nails and underfelt renewed.
As well as slipped tiles and leaks other issues can be condensation which normally shows in the cold weather off winter.
Loft condensation can lead to damaged timbers internally as they are not treated to prevent water damage. Also any house hold items stored in the loft can also become wet / damp and damaged.
To help prevent this their are a few different options we can provide.
Chimney repairs, re-pointing including lime mortar. Or when required part rebuilds or total rebuilds.
Chimneys can have a number of issues. Damaged or poorly set lead flashing can allow water ingress and then allow water to access to loft space. Chimney by their very design are usually at the highest most exposed points of the property roof. Their for receive a lot of weathering. This can damaged brickwork, remove mortar and damage chimney pots.
When needed we rebuild the tops or all of the chimney breast. Depending on what is required. It is important to make sure that the chimney repointing and brickwork is in good sound condition. If your home was build before 1930 the chimney mortar may be Lime Mortar if that is the caser we can help with either lime mortar repointing or modern Portland cement.

IS A RUBBER FLAT ROOF BETTER THAN FELT FLAT ROOFS?
In our experience the answer is yes, unlike felt roofs rubber roofs don't mark easily, crack or warp in the sun.
Rubber roofs are lightweight, durable fire resistant, reflects heat and has some insulating properties. They are
also, recyclable so good for the environment.
Another major advantage is the lack of seams needed with an EPDM Flat roof system.
In many cases there will be no seams at all, one peace where possible. If any are
required, it would be far less than felt roofs.
This means far fewer places for water to find its way in, for a possible leak in the future.
HOW LONG SHOULD A RUBBER FLAT ROOF LAST?
Rubber flat roofs have a very long-life span, which can be as long as 50 years.
Compared to felt roofs which have a life span of between 10 - 15 years.
